Confocal microscopy

The LRI has as part of its facilities a Zeiss LSM 410 confocal microscope. The microscope images fluorescence from fluorophores/fluorochromes that are introduced into the sample and then excited with light from a laser. Confocal microscopy has many applications in biological, medical, dental as well as materials research. The LRI is interested in collaboration with researchers who have applications for the system within the biological and materials research fields.
