Excimer

Background The excimer laser is allocated to the Laser Research Institute (LRI) by the National Laser Centre Rental Pool. The main application for which the excimer laser is allocated is the LRI spectroscopy projects, but the spare beam time (usually about 40% per year) is made available to the users of the Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) system and other users. The PLD system is operated as a shared facility between the US and iThemba Labs.

Announcements IMPORTANT: Users of the excimer laser must complete the LOG BOOK of the excimer laser before and after use. Dr. Erich Rohwer is the new contact person for bookings in 2008 (details below). A fee (amount to be determined) per day is payable for use of the excimer laser from 1 January 2007 .
